I\u2019ve never done counseling before. How does this go?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The basic overview is pretty simple. You call, and we chat about what\u2019s going on in your life. If together, we feel that I can help you, we schedule your first appointment. All sessions, including the initial assessment, are about an hour. After your first appointment, we\u2019ll meet as frequently as we need to address your issue. What if I want to see you but you don’t take my insurance?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Some people think they have to see a counselor who is “In-Network” with their insurance. That’s not true. You may have a mental health plan where you pay the full price to see a counselor, regardless of whether or not they’re in-network for you. And many plans have Out-of-Network benefits. Don’t let this be a deterrent if you’d like to work together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your credentials?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I have a Bachelor\u2019s Degree from Malone University, a Master\u2019s Degree from Case Western Reserve University, am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (Clinical) with Supervisory status. I have published various articles in local and national publications and authored several self-help books. I also appear on radio, print, and TV to discuss mental health and sociopolitical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you work with . . .?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are just some things I\u2019m not super great at working with. If you are seeking family therapy, I would encourage you to seek someone with specific training in family work.
